Elizabeth Leggett is a Hugo award-winning illustrator whose work focuses on soulful, human moments-in-time that combine ambiguous interpretation and curiosity with realism.

Much to her mother's dismay, she viewed her mother's white washed walls as perfectly good canvases so she believes it is safe to say that she has been an artist her whole life!  Her first published work was in the Halifax County Arts Council poetry and illustration collection.  If she remembers correctly, she was not yet in double digits yet, but she might be wrong about that.  Her first paying gig was painting other student's tennis shoes in high school.  She charged $10 a single shoe and she loved it when they wanted their boyfriend or girlfriend's name because she knew they would be back again a few weeks later!

In 2012, she ended a long fallow period by creating a full seventy-eight card tarot in a single year.  From there, she transitioned into freelance illustration.  Her clients represent a broad range of outlets, from multiple Hugo award winning Lightspeed Magazine to multiple Lambda Literary winner, Lethe Press. She was honored to be chosen to art direct both Women Destroy Fantasy and Queers Destroy Science Fiction, both under the Lightspeed banner.

She has been working for Lightspeed Magazine since 2014.

In addition to illustration, Elizabeth plans to return to writing later this year. Her short story, Mercury can be found in Ravens in the Library, a short story collection that includes the works of Charles De Lint and Neil Gaiman.  More of her work can be found in Deliria (Quiet Thunder Productions).

Elizabeth, her husband, and their curmudgeonly cat, Beau, live in New Mexico.  She suggests if you ever visit the state, look up.  The skies are absolutely spectacular!
